Wow… Just – WOW. People got paid to record this in an expensive studio. I’m amazed there hasn’t been a flash video for this in a b3ta newsletter yet.

RIYL: People sticking their heads in your room and saying ‘What the FUCK are you listening to?”

This is an anthem of the mid to late 80′s. Any Dr. Demento fan knows this by heart. Love It!

This song was nominated for a Grammy! Well, the instrumental version at least…
“Best Rhythm & Blues Instrumental Performance” in 1982. Marvin Gaye won for Sexual Healing.

ok, this is totally weird. no lie – i was thinking about this song on the same day you posted this (11-15-2004), remarking to myself what a bizarre ditty it was, and wondering if anyone remembered it. i was singing the damn thing aloud! now that’s some funked up sychronicity…

My 4 and 7 year old daughters are entranced by the butt. Just mention “butt” and they go off. Last time this happened, I started rapping on “the butt” – just to get it out of their system, when I remembered this song. They wanted to hear it, and I’m glad I found it. They were surprised to hear the voice of Shrek’s sidekick singing this deliciously profane ditty.

I’m thrilled to have found this. I’ve been wanting to hear this for like 15 years ever since it was on the radio. My friends don’t even believe that the song exists. God bless you.

Thank you so much for posting this song…I was just talking about this song to my husband (who is about 8 years older than I, putting him in the era of the song). I have to play it for him. Last I heard it was about 11 years ago when someone brought an Eddie Murphy TAPE to band camp. HAH! a tape- shows my age.

Love this track but only beaten by the awesome blues instrumental ‘Boogie Butts’ by the Legend. Its conveys a similar meaning but with awesome guitar lead.

What about some of The Legend’s wicked rock songs? ‘Your Butt is Mine’, ‘Get Down on your Knees’, and that brilliant silent track at the end as the crowd roars. Moving stuff. Moving out my butt!

Now THAT was some “trip” down Memory Lane! My kid brother loved all things Dr. Demento, and I this was one of his favorites, I think second only to “They’re Coming To Take Me Away, Ha-Haaa!” by Napoleon XIV. (I kept hoping they really would!)

I just put this on my Classmates profile as the top song that’s “so bad it’s good.” Love it.

Eddie Murphy forgot to say:
“Put a penis of a tranvestite street hooker, in ya butt.”

Well, I thought of this song for some reason today, and mentioned it to my kids who were flabbergasted.
They will get a kick out of it for sure!

I first heard this song when I was 8 on KPFA–preceded by a lengthy disclaimer. Still remember it vividly 25 years later.

This song was and still is one of my all time favorites. They use to play in the dance clubs in the 80′s. (Would love to see what would happen today if they did?!) Question?…who with eddie on this song?… I always thought it was only Eddie, but a friend told me it was Rick James. Can someone settle this bet for me?
